About
A student must have more than just the desire to appear before the student body and chant/yell to qualify as a good cheerleader. A pleasing personality, a neat appearance, leadership skills, and organizational abilities are also favorable aspects of a good cheerleader.
At Rayne High, a cheerleader applicant contest is conducted during the spring semester. Students must have been a member in good standing in the band, color guard, athletics, or an active member of at least two clubs during the year immediately preceding tryouts. Applicants must comply with the three tier discipline policy during the current year to tryout and to remain on the cheerleading squad.
Cheerleaders are responsible not only for conducting all school pep rallies, but also for leading the student body and spectators in wholesome, organized cheers. Perhaps their most important tasks is to act as the official goodwill ambassadors of the school at all athletic events, as well as to be positive role models outside of the school environment.
